Being in More Than One Place at the Same Time
Is it possible for me to be in more than one place at the same time? No, it is not likely. Household chores need to be done, meals need to be cooked, pets to be tended to and there are school events and appointments to attend. Between the everyday life events and blogging, I am easy overwhelmed.
Sometimes it helps to stop everything and take a deep breath. One way I like to clear my head is to go out in the backyard, find a quiet place to sit, and just breathe. I look at the scenery, listen to the birds, and take a break from everything that I know I need to do. Sometimes I even take a short walk. I have found these breaks to be invaluable. I am letting my brain recharge itself, so I can refocus and potentially come up with a new game plan for tackling my “to do” list.
When I feel like I am going crazy trying to do too much at once, I remind myself of these things:
- I can only do so much at one time
- It is okay to ask others for help
- It is not necessary to be perfect – my sanity is much more important
- Chores will still be there tomorrow (they don’t disappear on their own!)
- A good calendar is priceless
How do you recharge yourself when the responsibilities (and joys) of motherhood overwhelm you? Let’s share our tips and ideas!

This is a constant work-in-process for me and as I’ve gotten older I’ve found more support in my peer group.
If only the chores would magically go away! But this is something where getting the husband/kids involved is so valuable. Letting people know it’s not just mom who is responsible for these things really helps. Also, I’ve come to realize the value of hiring people if I can’t get it done.
I used to think I was above getting a housekeeper. But I now see that with a little outside help I can be more efficient and spend time on other more important things (like my family).
Good points! Everyone can pitch in and help!
Great post! I think many times we expect ourselves to be “perfect” and be able to do it all when that’s just not possible! Thanks for the reminder.
