Remember to Put Yourself on Top of Your Own To-Do List

A common misconception about moms is that they are just that…moms.  That they don’t do anything else but care for the children, husband, the house, run errands, pay bills, take kids to appointments and generally moms make sure the household runs like a well-oiled machine.

I have a second “full-time” job too – blogging.  Although blogging is a job that I absolutely love, the downside to running the household and blogging, is time and struggling to have enough of it.  How on earth does a busy mom/entrepreneur keep track of it all?

I am fully aware of how hectic life can get and how one glitch in a schedule can throw off everything.  A mom is usually the one in charge of getting kids to the dentist, soccer practice, spouse’s clothes to dry cleaner, etc.  Of course this is only a small sampling of the typical daily things a mom/wife might have to deal with.  Overwhelmed much?

Because my blogging work is important to me, I’ve decided to put myself on my own “To-do” list and try a new method for keeping us on track.  I’m scheduling all the family needs like doctor and dentist visits, but I’m also scheduling time for me.

Here’s an example of my “me” schedule:

  • Blog writing time
  • Exercise
  • Fun family outings
  • Time to play
  • Unexpected Stuff (you have to leave space for this!)

Where are you on your “to-do” list?

  1. Great idea to put ‘me time’ on the To Do ilst! I have a ‘real job’ in addition to blogging and hoomeschooling and taking care of my family and I really need more than 24 hours some days.

  2. I just recently started adding exercise to my planner. If I don’t, there’s never enough time. I agree with Sara. Some days there just aren’t enough hours.

  3. I love these ideas. I don’t have a ton of me time but like the idea of scheduling it daily. Even if its 20 minutes to read a book!
